Remaining true to the historic fabric of Istanbul Ortaköy, Ortaköy Hotel Istanbul is a contemporary reimagining that offers twelve spacious and comfortable rooms in one of the most beautiful locations along the Bosphorus. Designing an area within the hotel restaurant that serves guests with a stunning visual and unique menu, while enhancing the hotel's concept with its magnificent ambiance, was truly an exceptional experience.
The project's brief was clear: to design a restaurant in the heart of Istanbul's vibrant yet historic district, one that could also function as a lounge on weekends, offering an eclectic mix of Turkish and Italian cuisine available all day. The ambiance needed to be smart, chic, and luxurious, explicitly avoiding an 'industrial look'. Focusing on the requirements of the restaurant and lounge, the design plan included a small welcome desk/reception area, seated dining spaces, a bar, a high communal table, service areas, and a kitchen, all while considering the design, decor, and multifunctionality of the space.
Throughout the project, I paid great attention to aesthetic details. Elegant furniture, sophisticated lighting elements, and carefully selected decorative items came together to blend elegance and comfort in every corner of the space. By combining the natural textures of wood and marble with a warm color palette and contemporary art pieces, I aimed to create an atmosphere that is both tranquil and dynamic.
The restaurant at Ortaköy Hotel Istanbul is not just a dining area but a living space that offers a perfect synthesis of historical and modern elements. Serving the flavors of Turkish and Italian cuisine in a stylish and inviting setting was one of the most enjoyable aspects of the project.
